Saturday Morning Cartoons

Remember when you were a kid and Saturday morning cartoons were a big deal? I really dislike the Saturday morning cartoons of today. They are not special because you can watch cartoons anytime now. My kids are past the innocent cartoons like Dora and Blue's Clues. They want to watch Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron. Not a whole lot of values there. Well, why care about that...Saturday morning cartoons are suppose to be fun. You don't always need a lesson, right? Wrong. The thing is that they will get a lesson, no matter what. The question is, what kind of lesson....We have digital cable here and get a channel called TBN: Trinity Broadcasting Network. They have a great selection of Saturday morning cartoons. A few my kids love are...McGee and Me. I had ALL the videos when Bud and Kyle were little. For those of you who do not remember them, you can go here and see some clips. The whole series (it did not last long) is on DVD here for less than $25.00. It is a wonderful series, filled with values and Godly ideals, perfect for kids 5-12!
Another favorite Saturday morning cartoon in our home is Davey and Goliath! These are oldies, but goodies!!! These are as cheap as $1.50 per DVD, here.

Have you ever watched Bible Man??I always liked Willie Aames, but his Bible Man character is my favorite!
Then there are Psalty the Singing Songbook, Charity Church Mouse and Risky Rat! My kids LOVE those!
There is always a Veggie Tale movie available to throw in the DVD player.
My kids do not get much television at all. I do let them have some Saturday morning fun though. Saturday morning cartoons, if you take a good look, can be good or bad, depending on what they are watching. The above listings were our Saturday morning line up today. Lots of fun and a few Godly insights thrown in!

Saturday is a BIG work day for me. Laundry, housework and planning out the following week. I did complete 2 more Sunbonnet Sue blocks I can share before I head back to "work".

I like purple and yellow together. And of course, one of my favorite color combos....
Pink and brown. Only 2 more to go and I can trim the blocks up, press them, and sash and border them!It is starting to look like a quilt!!!!
Please pray for Kyle, if you think about it. I took him to immediate care last night. At around 5:30, he came to me and said his elbow had been hurting all day at work. I looked at it and was shocked to find it was VERY inflamed, red and hot. He had a lump just above the area, and when I touched it, he really flinched. He was diagnosed with cellulitus. It can be dangerous, but we caught it early and he is on a BIG dose of antibiotic. There was no trauma to his elbow that we know of, but you can get cellulitus from a bug bite. Also, no fever. Yeesh...it is always something. I am just praising God that the somethings are pretty minor!
Have a blessed weekend!

Brenda, I am sending healing vibes for Kyle. Gom had cellulitis on his forehead, & was almost hospitalised, because it was misdiagnosed initially, & his brain membranes became very inflamed. It certainly not a disease to be taken lightly.
A small girl next door got it from a mosquito bite, & she was quite ill also.
Speedy recovery.Hugs XX

Oh my goodness, Bren! I will certainly be praying for Kyle! What an odd thing for him to get. I pray it heals quickly and doesn't cause him any more pain.

This was such a great post about cartoons that our children CAN watch! If Isaac were a normally developing child, I would certainly want him to experience those fun Saturdays, too. As it is, every day is Saturday for Isaac and he's as happy as a clam about that!!! LOL!

Your quilt is looking great. I am so impressed with it. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Have a great evening,
Alesha

I'm definitely praying for Kyle.

Thanks for telling us about TBN saturday morning cartoons. I will share this with my daughter. There are so many cartoons her children are not allowed to watch and they know which ones they are too! They tell me, "Mommy don't let us watch this one...its bad".

Now here's a channel we don't have to worry about. Thanks

Kyle will be in my thoughts, I hope he will recover soon.
We didn´t even have TV when I was a child. I was about 6 or 7 years old when the Icelandic TV broadcasting began and my parents didn´t buy a TV until after a few years!

God bless and keep Kyle in a hedge of protection!

As far as cartoons are conserned, two of my kids faves are veggietales and 3 2 1 penguins. They are both on sat mornings here. I love that in this area it's not taboo to have "religious based" programming on the major networks. I will have to check to see if we have TBN here. Davie and Goliath play on sundays here while we are at church, but sometimes I remember to put a tape in the player and record it. :-)

I love the quilt blocks! I just joined a quilt block memebership through the Seasons at Home magazine. I'm frazzled because I'm new to this but I figure I can handle doing one new quilt block a month. By this time next year I'll have a quilt : )
