Sewing & Housekeeping

Finally. I got that 3rd block done and it has the appearance I am looking for! It was overcast when I took this pic, so it is a tad brighter than that in real life. I am happy with the results. Do you see what I see? It is a lot of extra work, but well worth it. It will need another 2 rows of big baskets and another 2 rows of little baskets.
My sewing room needed a little picking up. Look what met me at the door....The garbage can was full, so I threw fabric scraps on the floor. It is still not spotless, but I am "in progress" so I will leave out what I need. The garbage is emptied and scraps picked up, and fabric ready to cut for the next block.Today was a deep clean of my bedroom. My mother in love bought us sheets for our Anniversary. Oh. My. Gosh. They are like SILK. She got us 3 sets...all 350 thread count. I am in heaven. Sheets are not something I spend top dollar for, though they should be. How much time do we spend laying on our sheets? I am so grateful for these. They are by far the nicest sheets I have ever had! There is a set of solid white (I have always wanted a solid white set of sheets), a set of white with brown pinstripe, and a set of solid (light) brown. She knows I want to do my room in brown and pink. I mixed a set and used a solid fitted sheet and a striped top sheet. The room was dusted, vacuumed, and everything put away....I had "stuff" laying around the room.A friend from church bought us this pretty candle holder. It says "30th Anniversary".We got those salt and pepper shakers when we got married. One side says "before" and the other side says "after".That's about right! I leave them on the "before" side!Laundry was another job that got done today. It feels good to get it complete. Tomorrow would have been my big laundry day, but we will celebrate Rachel's birthday tomorrow so I wanted it free.

Valencia is hosting a Feminine Friday over at her blog. I thought I would join her. I have enjoyed her Fridays for quite a while now. I am not dresses/skirts only, but I am dresses/skirts mostly...like 95% of the time. This is what I am wearing today. It is my least flattering, most comfortable skirt (hence my sitting down). It is at least one size too big, but I love how it feels. It is a stretchy jean material. Since it was a heavy work day, I chose it from my closet along with a pink short sleeve top. Why am I wearing a jacket on July 17th??? IT IS COLD OUTSIDE. I do not think we got out of the lower 60's today.
Head over to Valencia's blog to see more Feminine Friday posts, and join in yourself. You do not have to wear only dresses to join in! Try wearing a dress or skirt on Friday's for a while and see how it feels.

Bren~ You look so pretty in your skirt! Wow you did lots today, those sheets sound wonderful. I know what you mean about not spending too much money on them but really we do spend a lot of time on them or at least I do :)
Have a great weekend.
Blessings,Joann

Oh, the quilt is amazing!! I can now "see" what you saw in your brain before making the changes. Gorgeous!

I love your border print skirt (or is it embroidered?). Pretty, pretty, pretty. Enjoy your cool temperatures. We've been at or over 100* here all week!

Hello, I was out most of the day. So I will email later. The sheets are very pretty I was so fortunate to get out 600 count for the price of 200 count because I did not pick the color of our preference. Funny though I really like it now it is a very subtle very pale sage green,
found them at some odd place for 80?% off and grabbed them. "Our other ones actually wore through!

What did you see??? I guess it is going over my head. I really love what your up too.

Bren ~ So serene & beautiful. I love the silky of high thread count also. You will rest peacefully in that in that bedroom ... so nicely you have created your room.

a cool front in middle of July is great isn't it! Here in central Arkansas it is only supposed to be in the low 80's this weekend with high 50's at night. I might just have to get out a sweater for the evening also if I sit outside - or in the morning.

My what a messy sewer you are LOL. I don't even own a skirt or dress and have only one nice pant outfit. I hate dressing up :0)

I love the quilt. It is going to be beautiful! I have a love for quilts and have made a baby quilt and wall hangings but no large pieced quilts. I have inherited some from my grandmother and they are treasures to me.

I love having a bedroom that is a clean, neat retreat. I don't throw scraps on the floor just because I'm the one who has to clean them up. I put a file box under my table to throw them in.
I enjoy wearing skirts in the summer time. To me they are cooler than pants. I'll drop by and see what the others wore.
