Our Weekend

It has been quite a quiet weekend here. I finished the table runner and it will be mailed out tomorrow. I am so glad I have another one to make using this fabric. I just love it. It came from a jelly roll I won on Debi's blog. There is still quite a bit left even after the next runner. I plan to make a bag (or 2) with it.
I completed another block for my Emerson's quilt.

The lighting in these pics are awful. It is a dark teal dress with a light teal bonnet. There are now 4 blocks done. I am doing freezer paper, needle turn and loving it! It is by far my favorite hand applique method. I plan to do a block a day and by Friday they will be done. Over next weekend I will sash and mark it...maybe even baste it!

I have some fabric from my Grandma Grace who passed away in 1991. I will add that to Emerson's quilt. Also, my little Grandma, who passed away last September...I have several of her aprons. I plan to cut one up and use it in a block for Emerson too. She will have fabric from 2 of her Great-Great-Grandmother's in her quilt. I can't wait to meet her!
On Saturday, my Mom came over with my great-nephew, Dominic. He is 4 and was staying with my mom for a few days. He came to play with TJ, who was here, and Charlotte and Zach. Those little kids just love my Charlotte!! Anyway, remember how I was cleaning off my counters? My mother brought me some "stuff" for my kitchen. I did remove the cookie jar, but only to replace it with this jar....

Though it is still a jar, it has a purpose the cookie jar did not (I never stored cookies there). It has a sealed lid and I keep my coffee stored in it.

I guess it can stay. I like the look of it. Also, a new container for my utensils. I keep mine in a drawer next to the stove, but this ceramic container is so pretty I could not resist.

So much for decluttering!!!!

Saturday afternoon was spent finishing off the table runner and watching the last episode of season one of Family Affair. Tonight we start season 2. We are watching 2 episodes a night...just me and the littles.
Sunday morning the kids and I went to church. It was a wonderful service. Beautiful music and an uplifting message. Poor Kyle swallowed his communion juice wrong and coughed and hacked his way out of the sanctuary. He held it pretty good until he got out there. I think the look of horror on my face, made him want to laugh. The poor kid! He pulled it together and came back in quietly. Thankfully we were sitting in the back close to the door. We came home, changed clothes, the kids had lunch and started a jigsaw puzzle.

They took little breaks, going outside to play, but mostly coming back to the puzzle.

Bud, Rachel and TJ came for dinner. Bud had not had our newest favorite...Chicken and Dressing Casserole. I ate ZERO carbs all day just so I could have it. The only thing not on my plan is the bread in the dressing. I will cheat once a month for this dish!!! Like I said, I had NO carbs all day long. I think I will be fine. I am down 21 pounds! My daughter in law laughs at me cause I am always digging at my pants. They are always falling down...among other things! I am down 1 pants size and those are loose. The next pant size is a little tight. I like my pants loose and my shirts long. Anyway, the dinner was GREAT!!

That is a double batch....it is GONE! Hope your weekend was as peace-filled as mine. Here is a piece of scripture I read this morning on the back deck...just me, my coffee and the Word of God.

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

The table runner is gorgeous I love the fabrics! I too had bookmarked this recipe from Cheryl's site but hadn't tried it yet. I'll make it this week. The additions to the kitchen are so pretty, worth having a little more on your counters.
Hugs to you!

The table runner is very pretty, and Emerson's quilt will be so special with all the heirloom pieces in it. I can't wait to see it when it is finished.

De-cluttering: It's not "clutter" if you love it! How sweet of your mom to bring you some new things.

Poor Kyle. We had a choker on the communion wine this morning a couple of rows in front of us. We chuckled along with his family because it's happened in our row a few times, too!

You are so domestic. My kitchen is still done in the old country blue and mauve of the 80s. I'm thinking of stripping the wallpaper and either going green and burgundy or maybe Americana in a burgundy, navy and cream. I don't know.

Sounds like a nice quiet, calm weekend - the best kind!

Love the table runner! I have been looking at jelly rolls and fat quarters and all that stuff, trying to figure it all out. I'd love to play in them all, but I don't have a clue where to start.

We love the chicken casserole here too. Woohooo for you on the weight loss! Have a great week!

Your table runner is great and the Sue blocks are looking so pretty. I like the idea of adding fabric from your grandmother and great grandmother, too. Great progress on your scale! Keep up the good work. The puzzle looks like fun. We did a lot of them while growing up and still enjoy one now and then.

Congratulations on your weight loss!
Sounds like you had a nice productive weekend. I like how you are using your family's vintage fabrics. They would be proud.

I like that you have added the generation fabrics to the baby quilt. I don't know about the freezer paper applique. Do you think you could do a tutorial that someone like me could understand.

Wow!! 21 pounds! I'm so proud of you.

Your countertops still look decluttered to me. I packed away my mixer and bread machine from my counter and it looks so much nicer. I'm hoping for a place off counter for them when I move.

Praying that verse with you!!!

Congrats on the droopy "drawers"!!! You are doing really great!

Both canisters are very pretty and look quite tidy. If you love them and they are useful, by all means have them out on the counter.

I love puzzles!!! I can't wait until my front porch is cleaned up and the weather is cooler. I am going to put a table out there just for puzzles and crafts!

Your kitchen looks great! I'm like you and try to keep my counters clean. The table runner is beautiful as are the mini quilts.

I like the story of the squirrels. I hope the move was successful.
