A Work In Progress

I am ashamed! I do not ever want to present myself in a way in which it appears that I am a work horse, or that I do so much more than most house wives. Believe me...I waste many hours everyday on nothingness. My last post covered the events of an entire weekend! It was sad I needed to do 9 loads of laundry in one day! I should have had it caught up to where I never have 9 loads of dirty anything to do! I am a work in progress!!!!Speaking of works in progress....Emerson's quilt is quilting up nicely. As any quilter will tell you, it is important to have quilts in ALL stages of creation. I have many UFO's and WIP's floating around here, but one of the most exciting projects is always that NEXT one!! The above pictured quilt is one I am planning to start next. The book is out of print (I think) though there are used ones available.I love the center block...Tree of Life. The actual blocks and applique border are wonderful!
A fellow guild member made this quilt years ago in hunter green and burgundy. She did not do the border (I will), and it was breathtaking!!! I always said I would make this quilt and now is the time. Anyone want to join me????? I think it would be a great block of the month. I think the purple and green are beautiful and may use that color combo. I need to think about it....I know I will use green for sure. I have some gorgeous gold and red that I may use...I have yards of it!
Yesterday I took the kids to the doctor. Just a check up for them both as they had not been to the doc in a year and a half. Not sick in that time, so no need. Anyway, my Charlotte is becoming a woman, though still tiny. She is 4 foot and 60 pounds at 11 years old. Still not on the charts and therefore considered failure to thrive. Her weight is almost touching the line for the 1 percentile, but her height is still a couple complete squares from the bottom percent. She may never see 4' 11". The doctor wanted her to get the Gardasil vaccine. We declined for various reasons and she was released healthy. Zach did fine and though he is small for his age, he is well within the healthy range. If I could just keep him clean!!! He is such a boy, I love it!!!My grandson is very proud of the fact that he can jump on one foot (almost) and wanted a picture of it. Here is a short clip of his talent....I am so proud!!!
I did not realize what whiners we are!!!
And today's verse I am claiming....Philippians 1:6
"Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ"

Bren, I had heard so much about that vaccine in the media that I asked my doctor about it for myself and my daughter. He is a saved man, so he has a Christian's viewpoint, and he said that neither of us need it - I am in a mutually monogamous relationship, and our daughter is kept close to us at all times, so her risk of STD is 0 at this point. He also said that the media and the pharmaceutical companies try to work up the hype to sell the vaccine, and the world in general is not going to teach girls purity - adding up to "everyone" needs this vaccine. I've considered doing a post on this topic, but just not sure how to approach it.

I love your verse for today! I'm going to go copy it onto my to-do list to meditate on.

The quilt is so beautiful. Speaking of biblical quilts, I saw one done by a gal at a retreat that was an applique quilt of biblical scenes and it was so cool. I asked if she still had the pattern but she didn't and I have never seen one. I don't remember it well enough to describe it but it was pretty.
Every time I sign up for an online project I end up failing to keep up. I guess your project depends on how much there is to do in a month. You can let me know when the time comes.

I save my laundry till the weekend, when I am home. 9 loads of laundry for me is normal. I too have seen a similiar quilt and if I can find the book may join you in a Biblical BOM

Bren I am at work but wanted to tell you that last night hubby and I had our first real meaningful conversation and lack of argument in a long time (ever maybe?) and things are on a very strong road to healing. Thank you for your prayers. I am way to beginner of a quilter to attempt that although I'd love to I'd bother you to death needing help LOL I'll think about it if you'd help me tons. xoxo melzie

WOW - my daughter, too, is failure to thrive. She is 5 years old, and I am told that is not a common diagnosis for someone her age, let alone 11. It's nice to see they can grow up perfectly healthy as "failure to thrive". She is beautiful. And tell her not to worry, my mom is 4'6" and has lived an enriched life so far, it does not affect you if you don't want it to :-)
Look at me, being positive! LOL

Ugh, "failure to thrive" indeed. Hogwash! Charlotte is beautiful and just the size God intended her to be. My fourth grandchild is off the charts on the low end, too; but one look at that spunky one year old would tell anyone that "failure to thrive" is definitely not an apt description. The charts are what they are, I suppose, but they are not a perfect measure of the many, many children who fall off of them on either end. Stepping down from my soapbox......

Okay. Well then. Ahem. The quilt you are planning to start is amazing!! I love the purples and greens, but look forward to seeing what colors and fabrics you choose for your version.

What a beautiful quilt! A block-of-the-month sounds great! I don't know if am experienced enough to attempt this particular quilt, but I could sure try! I am glad the kids checked out fine on their physicals!

Bren, Emerson's quilt is just gorgeous. I'm sure it will be treasured. As for the tree of life quilt, just stunnig. I love the colour combo that you've shown. Of course I'm sure you know that purple is a royal colour in the Kingdom.

Very beautiful quilt, I can't wait to follow your progress. I agree with you on the vaccine, it is media hype by the pharmaceutical companies.

LOL!! I love the video of TJ! How funny! Bren, I'm still amazed at what you do despite the fact you may not get it all done sometimes.

Your quilting looks amazing ... please come to my house ... now?! :) You have amazing talent.
