Keeping Hope Alive

Hope is still alive....it should be for all of us, but here it also means that our visitor is still with us. She sleeps a lot, but don't all cats? She is actually sleeping curled up like the cat in the picture and not sleeping in a semi-sitting position like she is uncomfortable. She is eating small amounts and drinking the same. A wonderful woman from the local shelter came yesterday and brought her some antibiotics and assessed her wound. She will be seen on Wednesday, after the meds take hold, and have a leukemia test and also have that wound checked. She thinks maybe Hope was up in a car motor that got turned on. The wound is old and it is too late to stitch it up. If they have to do anything to it, she will need to be put to sleep and I (and the lady) doubt her weak state of being could take that. I am so afraid the vet will say she needs to be put down. I think I would decline that at this time. I have SO MUCH going wrong in my life right now (we all go through those periods in our lives where everything goes wrong at once) that taking care of this cat is giving me something positive to focus on. Something of value, ya know?
My sweet mom was interviewed on the local news. You can see her by clicking here. She is the second lady interviewed and her home was NOT broken into.
Off to get Kyle ready for work!!! Have a wonderful day!

We watched, and loved, the video of your mom on the news!!!

Our two cats sleep ALL day long, or a very good portion of the day. Not sure what they do at night, but they're in the garage and I think they sleep then, too. The fact that Hope is eating and drinking sounds like a good sign to me.

Spats, the cat that adopted us last summer, was diagnosed with Feline AIDS and we were sure we wouldn't have him long. He is healthy and spunky and has wiggled his way right into our non-cat-loving hearts.

You just keep on keeping Hope alive, Bren! ;-)

I'll pray for little Hope, your families love will go a long way in her healing. We took in a very similar little stray 5 years ago and she is now very healthy, and the best pet we've ever had. She took a couple months to heal and a little longer to get some weight on, but hang in there, those little kitties love to be loved.

I'm so glad little Hope Kitty is doing better. Hopefully the vet will decide she has the spirit to hang in there.

It was so neat to see your mom! I've never met either of you, of course, but it's always nice to have faces and actions to put with names. Hope she stays safe, too!

Thanks for the update on Hope. I am surprised by glad to find out the animal shelter would come out to see her. Hopefully with rest, regular mills and lots of TLC, she will heal and not have to be put down.
I happy your Mom's house wasn't one that was broken into.
I hope everything in your life smooths out soon.

Bren,
Maybe Hope was suppose to come your way during this difficult time. A kitten for you to love and have your focus on sometimes. It sure feels good to give a nearly dead kitten a second chance at life. Many blessings to you and Hope.

I'm so glad she's still hanging in there, eating is a good sign and all the love she is getting is great too.

Bren, I'm so glad Hope is hanging in there. My Callie wasn't injured when she showed up, but was so skin and bones that I almost cried when I saw her. I was afraid to pick her up, afraid I'd hurt her. A trip to the vet, worming, and lots of food and loving and she is a wonderful member of our family. You would never know now that she was once skinny. (grin) Just keep on working with her. I'll keep you in my prayers. Have a great day, my friend. Winona

I'll be praying for Hope! I'm so glad she came into your life and is blessing you. God brings those things we need when we need them.

I'll be praying for you, too. I pray that things will get better for you - it's so hard when we're going through tough times.

God bless you - Julie

Hi Bren,
Sounds like Hope is doing well. Sometimes animals choose us. I think Hope made an excellent choice :)
