The Dentist

I spent the morning at the dentist and will need to spend the afternoon there tomorrow as well. Mostly routine care, but I sure hate going to the dentist office. I actually miss the spit bowls. Don't you? I hate that they stick a hose in your mouth and suck up, what was meant to be spit out. Oh, well. My dentist is very sweet and comforting, and takes care of my dentalphobia. I had my work done today and went to make my next appointment for a filling. I had an appointment set up for 3 weeks and the girl at the desk says "unless you want the appointment tomorrow." She happened to say that as the dentist was walking by. Before I could protest and tell her that 3 weeks would be just fine, he said, "Oh , we don't want to wait 3 weeks, get her in tomorrow." Dang!!!! I guess it is better to get it over with. His reasoning was that tomorrow will be a filling, but 3 weeks could end up a root canal. I should thank him...I guess. So I have 2 days of stress and torture. Not that the actual procedures are torture, just the idea of them. Well I do not plan to be a jack o lantern, so I will go. Prays are appreciated.

Just think by this time tomorrow it'll all be behind you. Thought you were extra quiet today.

Ouch. But you're in good company. I don't know anyone who likes going to the dentist!

I feel your pain at going to the dentist. I was eating a Reiser's candy and broke my upper molar. It took three times to the dentist to get a crown to fit properly.

I hate going to the dentist too! My dentist has a television in the ceiling right above the chair. You can't always hear it, but at least it is a distraction. If the TV doesn't help, I let my mind wander and think about anything else except what is happening in my mouth at the time! I read that I was tagged for your meme. I will post my answers later today. Let us know how your dental appt. goes today!

Eeek -- good luck with the dentist. I just did it last month -- the sore jaw was better than the sore tooth though!

Ha! That is so funny! I was just at the dentist this morning. I gagged on the stupid plastic things they stuck in my mouth to take the x-ray. I hate those things! That just triggered one big gag reflex for the whole cleaning. Ugh - my teeth are still sore!

I think you made a wise decision taking the appointment for tomorrow. Otherwise you'd have three weeks of the appointment nagging at you and wishing it wasn't. :-)
