Peter Rabbit Challenge

A while back, Milah issued a Peter Rabbit Challenge to any 4 quilter's who wished to sign up. She sent us each a panel with blocks portraying the story of Peter Rabbit. We had until Easter to finish the quilt. She was gracious and allowed hand quilter's to just finish the top by Easter...good thing for me, as I needed to finish the Star Sampler. We are all to reveal our finished challenges on Easter Sunday. Here is my own version of the Peter Rabbit quilt.I kept it very simple and it went together just like I envisioned. The only thing that is different as than the original plan, is the lack of border. I tried 2 different fabrics...one a stripe and one a (almost) solid, and neither one of them seemed to work. I decided to leave it as is and am glad I did. The bright blue binding will act as a border. Here are some of the blocks up close, which show the true colors of the quilt (not as bright as the above picture which I had to "auto correct").....I did not use all the blocks....only 9 of the 11 or 12 (I can't remember now) and I loved this one so much, I decided to make it into a pillow.I will add a border of 2 inch squares made from the same fabrics in the quilt.
My first thought was, "This will make a nice little 'Grandma's house' quilt for Emerson." Then I remembered my very dear friend, Candy, has a "Peter Rabbit Room" in her house. Here are pictures of the walls in that spare bedroom....She has been an incredible blessing in my life. I will hand quilt the 48x48 inch quilt and give it to my friend. Her grandkids sleep over in that room.
Now I am excited to see the other four Peter Rabbit Challenges. You can see them too by clicking on the names of the participants....
Milah .....our challenge organizer....THANK YOU!!!!
Winona (who HAND quilted her challenge)
and Christine and Lori, whom I do not know, but am excited to visit!
Praying your Easter is blessed!!!!

You did a very good job and I, like you, think a border would be a mistake.

Oh Bren, I love your quilt. It is so bright and cheerful! It is exciting how we each came up with different ways of doing this. It was a lot of fun too. Sorry I didn't comment yesterday, but I didn't even turn the computer on last night. I was wiped out after playing with 4 grandbabies. (grin) I hope you had a great day with family. Talk to you later, my friend. Winona
