Decorating

How are you all spending your long weekend?? We are working. Yes....working on Labor Day. Sweetheart is working on the outside, and I am working on the inside. I put up some fall decorations today.
Not a lot....less than usual, but it is easy to get a fall feel in my home because I use fall colors to decorate all year long.I even put out my pilgrims and turkey planter. I know it is way too soon, but I like them, so I decided to enjoy them a little longer this year.A few extra splashes of Autumn color and some cinnamon scent and there you have it! Winona made me these wonderful harvest themed coasters last year. I spread them around to all the end tables in the room.
It all ends up being subtle little additions to a room that already has a fall feeling to it.One room in my house that needed special attention, was my bedroom.
The dust was thick and out of control!!! See the plea??? "Dust Me". I did a deep clean in here today!!!
Not a speck left!!!!! Dusted, vacuumed, and decluttered, with fresh washed sheets and starched pillow cases.....Now I can kick back for a while between loads of laundry. I may quilt....I may read....I may sew. What ever it is, I will enjoy it!
I had the grandkids yesterday.
They are out of town today with their parents, visiting their other grandparents. They will be back Monday, but I sure enjoyed my time with them yesterday!!! Lots of TJ snuggles (which I don't get too often any more) and Emerson is just as darling as could be. She seemed to want a nap at one point, but only rested for a while. My son and Rachel came to get them after dinner and spent a couple of hours with us too. It was wonderful to have my whole family here at once. With my son's work schedule, that does not happen too often. He just got off 11, ten hour nights in a row, so he can enjoy his long weekend while he plays in a golf tournament with his father in law.
I can hear all the kids (mine, plus the neighborhood) playing kickball in the backyard. Sweetheart is working in the front yard and I could take advantage of being in the house by myself.....I think my rotary cutter is calling me!!!!

The "dust me" is too funny!!! I need to do the same in our room, it just doesn't get the attention it needs.

Have fun!
Blessings, Alex

Emerson is such a doll. She is so pretty. Jak is walking now. I am keeping him 5 days a week now since college has started. We sure have fun. But grandma is soooooo tired. Have a blessed weekend. :o) Karen

I've heard that 'calling' also, but I elected this week to ignore it. Your decor is so comfy & pretty, Bren. Love the plaid colors of warmth.

Emerson is adorable. Don't you love the time with the wee ones?

I am so anxiously awaiting that parcel ... I'll let you know when it arrives.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Lovely decorations, I try to avoid the thinking of autumn as long as I can!

Oh your house looks so warm and inviting...and shiny now too LOL. I got all my chores done except for the mopping in the kitchen and back entry, I'll do that tomorrow morning while it's still cool. Isn't it nice to have the housework done? We get fresh sheets tonight too :0)

That Emerson is soooo dang cute!!!

Your home looks so warm and inviting. Fall decorations just seem to add to that.

I love the decor. Did you ever figure out what the "weed" was?

Bren, everything is looking great. Glad you are enjoying the coasters. I think a house decorated with fall colors just feels more peaceful, but then, fall colors are my favorites, so what do I know? LOL Little Emerson is a cutey. She is getting so big. Have a good rest of the weekend. Winona

I love your fall decorating - it's just right. I'm learning to do mine a little early - like next week - since Thanksgiving comes in early October here. It makes for a long fall, which is my favorite season.

Have a great weekend and holiday! :)

Hi! Just dropped in, and love your blog. I love to hand quilt, though I've been working on other things instead for too long.

Love this post. Thankfully no one has written in my dust lately, but they could...in every room! :) My sheets are in the washer though, and I LOVE starched pillow cases.

I'll pop in again, Kathleen
