Comparison

Chookyblue wanted to see a comparison between Sweet Hubby's quilt and the actual pattern. It is Lynette Jensen's Nine Patch Criss-Cross from her "At Home with Thimbleberries Quilts" book. The views are a bit different but you get the idea. In looking at them next to each other I think my mistake was in using the black. It looked like the color values were the same, but in seeing it next to this one I can see I was wrong. Thanks, Chookyblue! It always bugged me as I could not figure out what my mistake was. Now I can move on and look at Sweet Hubby's quilt as a 9-patch, square in a square, alternate block quilt....

It's never a mistake to use black *s* It's a great quilt no matter what.

Like Libby said....it's no mistake using black. Your quilt just puts the focus on different aspects than the original did and yours is just as lovely as the original!

That quilt for hubby is not a mistake - he'll love it because you made it. :-)

And, by the way I think it's great, too.

It's got your own personal touch added to it now - your own design. :)

It is amazing how different a quilt can look, with different fabrics. But yours stand alone very nicely! And your DH loves it, so that is all that counts.

Bren what a bugger it didn't work out the way you wanted.......but.....your husband is happy with it so that's what really counts! Isn't it amazing what difference fabric choice makes?

(Oh and I cannot quilt in the ditch to save myself - but you know what? No one will notice but you!)

Your quilts are inspiring! You would have loved the sale I ran across last week in a small town quilt shop I can across!! I also wanted to let you know I have returned to blogville with a new name and address. You can now visit me at: www.awateredgarden.blogspot.com. I will be back for a visit and to catch up on reading postings made during my recent sabbatical. Blessings, Diane

It's not a mistake -- it's an alternate color arrangement that makes it your own interpretation!
