The Lady

Isn't she pretty? I had so much fun stitching her. I don't quite know what to do with her, as she is full of beginner stitches. I am anxious for my next project and have printed it out and have it ready to trace. I have done the stemstitch, backstitch, and french knot (the Lady's necklace). On the next project I will incorporate the buttonhole stitch. As a quilter, you would think I would know that one! Linda sent me a boat load of patterns via e-mail, all containing different stitches and I think I am set for a while. Lazy Daisy will be next as there are quite a few in the Flower of the Month blocks. I am making myself wait on tracing out the pattern until I spend at least a couple hours machine piecing, and an hour on the Masterpiece block today. I am very backed up and need to get some milage on the machine. It is a rainy day here and a good one to spend in my sewing room.
Oh, Rachel came yesterday and got her lesson on the 2 stitches I know how to do. She wound her floss and set up her box. We cut fabric squares and traced out all 5 designs. She got a good jump on the first block (her stitches looked better than mine!) and as she was leaving assured me it would be done that night! I gave her a "sure it will" grin and she left determined to prove herself! If she did, I will come back and humbly post a picture and apologize for doubting her! She has changed her mind about a set of wallhangings and wants to make a quilt adding more blocks of Dora, Diego, Wonder Pets and Wubby (whoever that is). More of TJ's favorites. She can tie the thing is all I can say!!
Update:

My humble apologies to my beautiful daughter-in-law Rachel for ever doubting her ability or determination to finish her block. She did finish it last night! She even did a satin stitch! Great job, Rachel!!

Your little lady is cute.
And well done Rachael!
I wish we could get that old English Scratch remover over here! I must investigate.

Adorable stitcheries. Better watch out though - stitcheries are addicting. Ask me how I know.

Hi Bren, your lady is looking lovely, as is Rachel's piece! Good job both of you on your first efforts!
I love embroidery. It's how I began my needlework efforts. Then one by one, I learned how to do other things. Now I can do it all except make lace and tat! And I'm happy without those 2.
I think embroidery is such a great 'spare moment' or 'hour sit down' type project. You cna pick it up and set it down without losing your place. Very satifying..even just doing dish towels works for me.
I am working on a set of quilt blocks, but have a long way to go.
You're much more organized than I am, my floss is in an older flat type candy tin...and that is ok for now. Organizer? maybe someday.
I do find I like the metal, spring type hoop the best, holds the fabric the tightest.
Keep up the great job! Hugs, Finn

Do I detect a master procrastinator at work here Bren? :) But she is lovely and so is the snowman (or whoever he is)!

Great job on your first stitchery Bren! I've seen this little freebie chart somewhere before but only stitched up in red. Yours looks so pretty done in the colours.
I love that your DIL Rachel is taking up stitching too. She is lucky to have you as her MIL.
What a great job she did on her first piece also.
