A Snowball in July

No, I am not in the mountains nor do I live in the Antarctic. It is actually almost 100 degrees outside (much hotter than Gudrun's 21 c)!! The snowball I am referring to happened in my house! It all started with this room. This was the plan for today. Clean the powder bathroom and do 2 loads of laundry. The rest of the day was mine. Well I wiped down the bathroom and got a bucket of soapy water for the floor. It is a tiny floor, so my hands and knees are just as quick as a mop. I got all the way out to the entryway of the bathroom and noticed that the wood trim going along the hallway looked awfully dusty up close. Hmmmm, I better wipe that down. While I am doing that I notice what appears to be ketchup or tomato sauce splatters at the base of the wall. How in the world did that get there?? It is no where near the kitchen. Now I wash the walls. The hardwood floor appears not as clean now that all the woodwork is shining. Pull out the mop and bucket. The throw rugs probably could use a wash too. MORE laundry. As I am doing laundry little Zachary brings his full clothes hamper to me and says "here ya go Mom!" I am just getting ready to put the table and chairs back on the hardwood, but wait a minute....the bases are awfully dirty looking. How did they get like that??! More Murphy's oil in the bucket! And whoa! How did that sliding glass door get so dirty? There are handprints of every size on there, and is that a nose print? Better grab the glass cleaner on the way back through. As I walk through the kitchen to fill the bucket I take a good look there as well. Not too bad, but the floor starts calling my name. Oh well, I already have the mop and bucket in hand. So far 2 loads of laundry has become 6 and one clean powder room has become an entire main level of clean. It does smell good in here AND it is amazing that when I pull out dust rags, buckets and mops all the kids tend to stay clear. No complaints regarding "she won't play with me" or "he keeps touching me". So much for a day of rest. I hope I don't sound like I am complaining. I love to care for my home, and cleaning and organizing go with the territory. It is surprising how the plan to care for one little room, that was actually not bad at all, could turn into a full days work!! I am afraid to go upstairs. Snowball!!

Sounds like you have been busy. It seems like a little sew therapy is in order. I am doing housework right now, I hate housework, I think I need a wife.

I like the total of this post! It's funny how housework multiplies like that, isn't it! :o)

You are a better woman than I! I rarely clean on Sunday. Aside from the mountain of dishes we created every day.

Especially mountainous with a houseful of teenagers all weekend, we were the gathering spot these two days.

Make some sewing time on Monday, you deserve it!

I'm sure it feels good to have everything clean and fresh. But what a way to spend the day after your wedding anniversary - LOL!!

Congratulations on 28 years!!

Busy, busy day -- though, you could have fun with the kids and tell them today is the day they learn to do laundry! Since I am about to embark on that kind of cleaning binge, you have my empathy!

Happy Anniversary for yesterday Bren!

And yes, I had a snowball morning yesterday too and it involved a bathroom too!

This post makes me think of the movie "Gremlins". If you got them wet...they multiplied. Seems the same thing happened to you. Once you got that wood wet...the work just multiplied!

Hope there's time for lots of sewing at your house today.

And so it goes around here, too . . . one thing just leads to another. But the results are so pleasing *s*

Have you ever read "If you give a mouse a cookie" book? This reminds me of that story...one thing leads to another...and another and another.

Happy Anniversary--a few days ago. You're only a few months ahead of us.

--BTW--found you thru JudyL. Your quilting is very pretty.

Too funny! Snowballs used to happen around here all the time, until I had our first little one. She's now 19 months old and keeps me very busy...so I've learned to "ignore" those snowballs. I can just see an avalanche happening in my home soon :) In all seriousness, I do look forward to a time when I can return back to that sort of detailed housecleaning...Today I just keep my house organized, but some of the more detailed cleaning have to be left undone just because...
