Sweet Hubby's Quilt

I thought I would show you a picture of Sweet Hubby's quilt today, since I have nothing new to show. I promise....new stuff soon. This was a Thimbleberries pattern and I was disappointed with how it turned out. In the book, it showed this really cool pattern, almost like a lattace. I used the same color values in the same places, but all I see is 2 alternating blocks. If I squint my eyes and really look for the lattace, I can find it for a second and then it is gone again. Even with the above picture, if I squint, there it is! Try it. Do you see the lattace? Oh well, he likes it. This was also made during my "I think I can machine quilt in the ditch" phase. Well I can't! I machine quilted this and was so unhappy with it I hand quilted a motif in all of the square in a square blocks. If you click on the photo you can see the motif. It made the quilt "passable" to me. There is a definate talent to machine quilting, and let me tell you, if you do not have it, it can be a disaster! I did machine quilt (in the ditch) 4" squares made up into cover ups for my neices and nephew. Those turned out ok. It took me a while to get these pics for you as I had a camera hound in the way!

I love the quilt! Quilting is something that I haven't learned, yet, but hope to someday.

Beautiful quilt - I love Thimbleberries.

I have trouble quilting in the ditch also. I prefer hand quilting anyday. I finally started farming out my larger quilts to someone with a longarm machine. I sold my cheap machine and plan on buying a Janome or Bernina someday because I hope they will do a better job of machine quilting (blame the machine, not the quilter, right?)

Hubby's never know there's supposed to be something else they can see - they just want a quilt to call there very own *s* You did a great job.

I love Thimbleberries! The quilt is lovely although I don't see the lattice pattern in it either - not even when I squint.
I can neither hand nor machine quilt. I have a tablerunner all ready to quilt and just cannot bring myself to try it.

Hubby's love anything we make them. Your quilt is wonderful and machine quilting just takes practice.

sorry i was gone so long Bren, I was really busy having a pity party. ok, so I am over it now! Just needed that time to feel sorry for myself. I have been reading "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" last few days and had to laugh at my own immaturity. I love the quilt you made for your hubby. I love the colors too! and that handquilting! wow! it is awesome nice. How long did the hand quilting take? I know it takes me a long time...I always want it done "now" and am not patient. I dont know this tagged thing or meme what is that?
