Accomplishments

Needles were flying over the weekend! Both by hand and by machine. I finished my stitchery swap and made the label. It will go out on Tuesday. That was a relief!! I practiced my lazy daisy stitch for an upcoming project and think I can move on to another stitch. I am feeling pretty good about it. I seem to do better with 3 strands of floss instead of 2. Luckily it is a 1930's repo project and they used 3 strands back then.

Remember this?
Well look at it now!
That lining is Bright Orange!!!
While working on my bag, I was able to use my new pincushion. Thanks Darlene! Zach put pins in it for me. If you look close you will see the line of yellow pin heads. He followed Darlene's quilting line!
I think I can officially say I am addicted to these bags!! After seeing the gorgeous bucket bags that Linda made, I feel a little less of the bag expert I was beginning to think I was. Did you see them?? Oh my gosh are they wonderful!!! Well she has made 4 of them now. I could not have that, so I cut another one to make my count 5! (just kidding, Linda!) This one is the same floral as my own bag, but the bottom pink and brown fabric is different. I actually like this one better. The lining will be the same as mine. It is a gift for a friend who admired my bag ;)
I also pull this back out...
I appliqued 8 more pieces today. I think I am close to 2/3 of the way done. I will now push to get this first Masterpiece block done by the end of the month! Block number 2 will be marked, and though it has almost as many pieces as the first one (96), it will not be so tedious. Working on the Masterpiece did not go without incident! While I was stitching, TJ, who was visiting, grabbed my scissors. I got them away from him instantly, but he went to grab them back. He had opened them in the split second he had them so they looked like this...

See that sharp point to the left? When he went to grab them, the bottom of his forearm came down on that point! It barely touched him, but I knew it had cut the skin. Though it was not deep, it did split the skin. I tell you...I could almost not stand it. We cleaned it up and put a bandaid on it. It did bleed, but not terribly. I only had plain bandaides and we needed some fun bandaides. Rachel stayed with the kids while Paw Paw and I ran to the drugstore to get them and also some antibiotic ointment for Rachel to take home. I was not sure what he would want, so we got Dora & Diego, Sponge Bob, and Disney Cars. Plus a big organic chocolate chip oatmeal cookie!!! I'm sure the kid thinks Grandma stabbed him!!!! The Masterpiece already has a story!

Oh yikes! Kids move so fast, it's scary! Good thing you were fast too! But I think all kids need one of those "I'm lucky I have all my appendages still" stories to pass on when they grow up!

Well haven't you been a busy girl? Your bags are terrific, good for you getting over your bagaphobia. Easy aren't they, when you do them step by step? I've had a very sick hubby all weekend, I'm surprised he's still alive...lol.. Got a bit of stitching in, inbetween fetching. Roll on work day......

Kids & dangers. They are like lightning aren't they!
I love your bag, you are now an expert.
I have awarded you a Rockin Girl award!

Hugs for TJ and for you too.
I bet he recovered from the scissor incident a lot faster than Grandma did.
You've been sewing up a storm! The bags are lovely and I can't wait to get a look at the masterpiece block.

Well done with the bag. That one looks terrific. I'd love to have lots of bags and change them frequently but I hate having to swap everything from bag to bag, so I usually use one bag until it falls apart (almost).

Your bag is wonderful, Bren! No wonder your friend admired it, and now she gets one too - lucky girl!

And what a story to go with the master piece! I'm sure the nick in the skin hurt more for you than it did TJ - kids are a lot tougher than we think :o)

Hugs

Bren well done on all your work! LOVE that new bag - love it!

LOL at you taking a photo of scissors! Does your other half think you're mad? Well done at the repair job on TJ's arm :)

Sorry to hear about TJ but thankfully it didn't go deep and I am sure he loved all of his bandaid choices. :) The bags are too cute, look at you, I can't wait to see what is next.

Beautiful bag, love the orange liner. I wish I could get up the nerve to make bags.

Wow! You are really smokin' on those bags! Next you'll have to make one of those "Quilts in a Bag" things.

I love that Grandmas get to buy fancy bandaids. My little one has to stick with the 99cent ones - of course, if DD2 would quit using them on her dolls....

You are becoming a regular production line on making bags. So glad you are having fun doing it.

Can't wait to see that masterpiece block!

Look at you busy making bags! Another pretty one - Sigh! :-)
Linda's bucket bags are adorable - I'd love to have one but you know me and my bagophobia! LOL

I'm glad that TJ is ok - they just move so quickly!
