Plans

The best laid plans....never happen. The plan today was to work on the house in the morning and play Grandma for the rest of the day. Well Mommy trumps Grandma every time! Little Zach woke up this morning out of sorts. He usually hops (literally) out of bed and is anxious to start his day. Today he needed to be lured out of bed and even then was not thrilled about it. I got him to eat his breakfast hoping the "shaky" feeling he complained of would go away. He ate his breakfast and immediately lost it! As much as I wanted to enjoy my Grandson today, Zach needs his mommy, so today I wear my doting Mother hat. He is actually feeling better and has kept down some soda crackers and room temperature 7Up. He just asked for a bowl of cereal and milk, which I refused him. He settled for 1/2 a small banana. That too was tolerated. I have been able to work on the house and plan to make 2 pumpkin pies this afternoon, with Charlotte's help. Some hand quilting and Zachary movies will have to take place of my machine work planned for today.
Kyle returned home for a lunch break. He is spending some time with a friend down the street. They are cleaning out their basement and Kyle is helping. He has some pretty big muscle built up and is a great help. How come they will help someone else with extreme pleasure, but if you ask them to do something for you they act like you want to pull their fingernails out? Well, he was so appreciated by our neighbors he came home with a treat.

I really am quite proud of my grown kids. They all (daughter in law included) are such wonderful people with hearts like gold. Kyle is well liked by several of our neighbors and they all are so sweet to him. They let him know it is an honor to be his friend. And it is.
My mailman brought me a lovely package yesterday. It carried my 4 Seasons Swap all the way from Australia. It is gorgeous!!! I just love the fabrics and the design. It reminds me of a crown of thorns around a cross. Tracey from Oz Country Quilting Mum sent it along with a wonderful book for the children. They loved it! We learned all about the animals of Australia through a curious little Wombat. Beautiful photos of live animals were used. A wonderful post card with Tracey's chook quilt and some scripture cards (which have been placed around the house) were also enclosed. Thank You so much Tracey!! I just told Zach I would be right down to start his next movie and he has announced he will "find something to eat in the meantime". I think I better scoot....Luckily, I learned a while ago the lesson CoppersWife spoke of the other day...Hold your plans loosely.

I'm sorry - somehow my sick kids must have transmitted a virus via Internet to your kids. :-)

Kyle looks very happy with his lovely surprise. Do hope Zac is feeling better. We've had an afternoon in the yard again, time to rinse out the colour from my hair and see what I can throw together for a quick dinner.

It must be in the air. My sister is home with a sick little one too. Treasure these times ladies - yes I know they are sic - most of mine are grown up and sleep off their sickness in their own bed without need of a rub of the head, or special story time with Mom. My oldest two are 21 and 18 -- NOT COOL if their friends found out! However my 14 year old is still going for it!

So sorry to hear that Zach is sick. Poor baby!!! Sounds like you chose the better path for your day, though......I know you missed playing grandma (I know that one well from my own experience just this week!). Yep, hold those plans loosely, just in case the Lord has something better in store!

I hope Zach is feeling better by today. It's no fun when your children are ill. Your little swap quilt is really pretty. I haven't seen one yet that I didn't like. Maybe I'll have to sign up for the next one.
