Candlelight and Decorations

Since it is impossible for Sweet Hubby and me to go out to dinner very often, I decided to have a Friday night dinner for two. The kids ate a frozen pizza earlier and Sweet Hubby and I had a nice quiet dinner when he got home from work. He gets home around 7 pm on Friday's, which is too late for the kids, so he usually eats his dinner in front of some "Flip That House" episode. I thought Friday nights would be a good time for us to catch up on what has gone on through out the week and to make plans for the coming week. It was very nice. Niki taught me how to make oven rice, and I tweaked her stir fry recipe a little. Add egg rolls I had bought from the Schwans man (pre budget) and it was a fantastic meal!! I actually slept all night last night!! The last few nights I sleep a few hours, up a few hours, all night. Last night I went to bed at 10 pm and woke at 7 am in the same position I fell asleep in. All energized, I did part 1 of the tutorial, and then the kids and I went shopping. We got more lights for the tree, each kid got this years ornament (they get one for each year), and we got "special chocolates" (one each) for when the decorating was all done. We sat in front of the lit tree, fireplace going, all the lights off and ate our chocolates while we admired our accomplishments. Dad came home and we all watched a Christmas Movie..."Deck The Halls". It was very funny, but it was a disappointment in the fact that the girls (and women) wore such horrible clothing. I enjoy Danny DeVito in a comedy, so it was worth the rental. Here are some of our decorations. This is a quilted wall hanging that was given to me by a dear friend in my old guild. It is so cute! This is my Christmas tablerunner. I really like this one. Instead of a stocking, a mitten hangs on the door. A couple of shelves in the entryway. The tree and fireplace. We will add red and white Poinsettias to the hearth. Are you all decorating for Christmas??

Oh, how wonderful everything is! I know what you mean about lack of date nights! Sounds like a good plan and the food looked good as well. We won't decorate until the 1st and I doubt it will go as smoothly as it does at your house. LOL!

We have a regular Friday night date night...at home. we guard it zealously and quilting once a week is the only thing that breaks it...DH cooks!
Gorgeous decorations, Tracey

The tree, decorations and quilts are lovely. I bet the Friday night dinner for two was a hit! It sounds wonderful.
I haven't started decorating -- I want to finish up some projects this week and I'll haul out the quilted things as I clean house and put up the tree next weekend.
