Galena: Barns of Illinois

I love barns. Old barns are even better. On my Galena trip I took some pictures of some interesting barns. Years ago I made a barn wall hanging using a pattern from a quilting magazine. I gave it to my sister in law Sherry and it still hangs in her kitchen. I thought of Jan many times while photographing these barns. She is making barn blocks for a quilt. Check them out...they are wonderful. Here are some of the barns I took photos of. Enjoy! And of course my favorite.....
I will need to go back and re-capture that one. The sun was just to the left and even with the roof of the barn. This was the best of 6 pictures.

And here is a preview of the "Ryan Mansion" post. Look closely at what is hanging from her apron. It is wonderful!!!!!!Thank you for sharing my barns with me!

Lovely barn pictures!! One of those reminds me very much of my grandmother's barn in MO.

I'm intrigued to hear about all those lovely things hanging from her apron. I'm guessing that they are all items she would need during her day of service (I spotted a spool of thread and what looks to me like a needle case). Can't wait to hear more about the gadgets and the mansion you toured.

Your barns made me a bit homesick for the midwest. Thanks for sharing them.
