A Baby, Books, and Bags

TJ came over yesterday and decided to read a book while his Mommy worked on her bags. From all the books available, he chose the book that we always read together in the swing during our Grandma story time last summer. "Dick and Jane". So sweet. In the meantime, all 9 bags are finished. They turned out very nice and Rachel is relieved to have these crossed off her list. Don't they look yummy!!!??? The one on the far left looks filled with things, because it is. Rachel made that one for herself! Smart girl!

I plan to putter around the house today, but also want to have a lazy couple of hours on the couch in front of a good movie. My sore throat is back worse than ever and I am thinking I may need to go to the doctor on Monday. Anyone who knows me, knows I only go as a last resort. I am sure I have a sinus infection and possibly an ear infection too. My own treatment does not seem to be working, but I am close to grabbing that turkey baster!
I also have the 3rd installment of The Face of Trauma close to ready. I will wait until after Christmas. I may end up changing the focus...I have recently encountered an adult who once experienced trauma and I am seeing a cycle here where being the victim is a desired thing. It is foreign to me, though I see it in my own daughter. When I saw it in this adult, it sent a red flag. How can someone possibly heal if they continue to stay a victim? The "poor, poor me" mentality, and thinking you are wronged at every turn, is not a healthy avenue, but one that seems to be where traumatized children end up. It is worth looking into.

You won my little contest! You guessed the correct ring. I'll have a few tags for you sometime next week. Is it okay to just put "Bren" on them, as that's usually how you "sign" your name??? Thanks for playing! Did you ever receive my email? Just wondered...

Hugs ~ Kathy

Hi Bren ~ a tag is like a little graphic with your name on it. You can use it on your blog, or any groups you're in. If you look backwards on my xanga blog, you can see some I signed my blog with. Some are really pretty.

I never got your email reply :(

HI, I don't know if I have ever introduced myself but I 'bumped into' your blog one day and have kept reading. "Hi, I'm Karen!" :) About staying a victim...many times we stay with what we are used to. It may be horrible, but it is comfortable. For some, NOT being a victim is an unknown and thus scary. Sad, I know. But Jesus can stop these patterns when the "victim" looks to him!! I know you know that. At one time in my life, I was "tied" to depression. A dear mentor helped me to let go of it and DECIDE to walk anew as a joyful person who at times has a bad day instead of a depressed person who at times has a good day, kwim? I was unreasonably scared to walk this new journey. Though it was me, it is still hard to understand why. But I was tied to the comfortable, my own warped "normal". But Jesus taught me over time that I was in his safe hands and need not fear to walk in joy! What sweet release.

It is so very sad that abuse and victimization can be someone's comfortable "normal." But Jesus can heal. It is a long journey. How it makes us look forward to our heavenly home where all wounds are healed and joy is supreme!

As our children accept Jesus as Savior we can be assured that ONE day, on earth or in Heaven, we will see him face to face and TRULY walk anew!

Have a wonderful day, Karen T.

Hello Bren I hope your throut is better soon. Lemon and honey in slippery elm tea.
There is an amazing triangle of dysfunction where the triad is Victim/rescuer/offender this triad become familiar in dysfunctional families. Each member will have an assigned role. If one family member gets recovery then the others will even sub consciously sabotage them to get the equilibrium back. Perhaps it is time for me to post the info on that as well. It is cyclical in the process. The only recovery is OFF the triad. A very hard thing to accomplish. It is throughout society in varying degrees. Codependency is a very involved topic. (as a posed to interdependency found in healthy families).

Sorry to read you are still not fully well again.
I hope you recover soon.
Your face of Trauma series are so interesting.
It is a factor, I think, being a 'victim'.
Sometimes life teaches that attention of any type is better than none at all.
