Texture

I love a hand quilted quilt, especially when it is heavily quilted....is there any other way? My current hand quilting project is very densely quilted. I have been working on it and decided to flip it over to see the back. I shocked myself with the beauty of it. The pictures don't do it justice. It motivates me to finish it. While working on it last night, I ran my hand over it's surface and felt comforted by it. I am very fond of this quilt and am glad it will stay with me. Sweet Hubby and I plan to do an entire bedroom re-do, but I will not even look at bedroom sets until the quilt is finished. The entire room is planned around it. The designs are gorgeous, though they are tedious and take a long time. I felt it daunting...until I turned the quilt over. I am renewed in my vision for this quilt and my bedroom, which will include a beautiful turn of the century style sleigh bed in a dark wood. Now I just have to decide which side of the quilt will face UP!! Now I am off to finish this block....

This is a beauty of a quilt! How about a reversable quilt? The quilting ususally shows up better on the back. Display one side one week, then the other side the next. You will feel like you have two quilts instead of one! Just a thought!

Your quilting is soooo beautiful, Brenda! Keep going, girl, this is gonna be a heirloom. That special feeling of accomplishment and beauty is so much rewarding for handquilters...no matter the time and efforts it takes.

Oh, Bren! It is absolutely beautiful!!! I love your hand quilting! - and the back is so pretty (you have to show the lovely front, though *lol*) Why not hang it in the middle of a room and people can walk around it? *lol*

That's gorgeous! I can so see it with the dark wood! You can flip it as you feel like it, cream some days, pink and brown on others!

Oh, wow, that just makes me want to hand quilt!!! I have mostly done machine quilting because it's rewards are so quickly seen - but ooooh, ahhh, there's just nothing like hand quilting! Your quilt is just heaven to look at! :)

I'm the same way with my quilts and love to run my hands over the quilted areas. For some reason, they are so tactile. When I finish a section in my hoop, I just have to take it out and spread the quilt on the floor to see the effect. The back always shows up better. Nothing says you can't use the back as the front.
