Bob (TJ) The Builder!

Bud, Rachel, and TJ came for dinner and a visit last night. TJ was thrilled to find Paw Paw "buiwdin" He kept saying "Can we do it? Yes we can!" He collected little pieces of wood from Zach's work bench and put them on the completed bookcase. He needed just the right tools. He worked diligently for a long time. When it was time to "finish" and install the bookcase, TJ was not too happy. Once they got it in the house and TJ saw the work was not finished, he cheered up. They mounted the bookcase to the wall and the job was finished. The 8ft. tall bookcase did not want to go into place without hitting the 9ft. ceiling (who would have thought it?). Bud figured it out quickly and the ceiling was not scathed.Sweetheart did a fantastic job....TJ too. My oldest son is a pro at miter cuts! Look at the beautiful detail in the trim. I talked Sweetheart out of putting a back on it. I love the color of these walls and did not want it hidden. I also felt the overall balance of the entire wall would not be compromised if the back was left off. He is glad he left the back off as the wall color really enhances it. The books needed to be loaded on and I am sure this will be a process as I have already changed things up since these pics were taken. The light is wonderful in the evening. It really changes the entire look of the room. We agreed another identical bookcase on the other side of the fireplace would be perfect, but the TV would have to go. There is no other place in the family room to put it and Sweetheart's facial expression when I suggested taking it out of there was one of panic. One bookcase is enough...for now. When the job was completed, TJ and Paw Paw celebrated!!!

Looks great, Bren! How did the 8 foot shelf not fit with the 9 foot ceiling, inquiring minds want to know!

Have a good one :)

Your new bookcase is gorgeous! What a huge blessing that must have been!

I love how you guys left the back off it so the wall color could show through. Enjoy shelving all of your books!
